HIV/AIDS
Seminar in Union Place
8 November 2007
With the rapid
increase in HIV/AIDS over Sri Lanka especially amongst the youth, as Christians
it is our duty to educate them and to bring across to them the knowledge they
need about this deadly disease in order to save our own fellow brothers and
sisters.
The Project
Positive team put their hands together once again to organizing another
“Project Positive” Seminar on the 8th of November 2007, at the Salvation Army
Church, Main Hall, Colombo and it was open to all Churches in and around the
Colombo district. More than 56 participants attending this seminar.
The main
purpose behind this seminar was to give the participants a clear understanding
of the HIV/AIDS awareness programme and also an insight about what we plan to
achieve in the future. This seminar also focused on our future objectives and
what our role is as a church in helping those who have been affected by
HIV/AIDS.
The following
Topics were discussed at this seminar:-
1. Introduction to HIV/AIDS Through this
seminar the participants got received a wide knowledge in the respective areas
mentioned above and it was very encouraging to see the response we got from the
participants. The seminar was concluded by providing these participants with a
comic book on HIV/AIDS, brochures, in their respective languages. A time was
set apart to discuss any issues which the participants had and also to express
their own views.
