Vision Casting Seminar in Badulla
1 December 2008
49 pastors gathered at the Galaxy Hotel in Badulla from the 1st – 2nd of December 2008 for a Vision Casting seminar. The first session was led by the Missions Coordinator under the heading of “Leadership”. This session began at 11am and ended with a break for lunch. Thereafter the second session was conducted by the Assistant Missions Coordinator. This session covered the topic of the “Missions Commission”. Pastor Colton Wickramaratne thereafter led a session on “The Calling”. The day’s programme came to an end as the participants were encouraged to ask questions with regard to the sessions. Participants were also given a chance to voice their concerns and requests, with regard to their ministry work. This open forum was led by the Missions Coordinator.
Pastor Colton Wickramaratne led the 2nd day’s devotions as he shared on the topic of “faithfulness”. He then encouraged the pastors to be self sufficient, where they themselves could raise needed funds through small industries. After taking the group photograph the pastors then participated in a session called “The Leader God uses” which was conducted by the Missions Coordinator. This session was followed by an address done by a representative of the missions department. This talk centered on “Church Surveys”.
Once this topic was completed the Pastors were requested to pen their plans for 2009. This was done in order to create a smoother working environment for them and NCEASL. This way NCEASL would be able to help in the organizing and pre-planning (if needed). The programme was brought to an end by the Assistant Missions Coordinator. The Uva Pastors presented NCEASL with an appreciation award for all the assistance extended to them. This particular event was followed by a special prayer dedicated to NCEASL, after which all participated at a meal.
Testimonies
One of the pastors attending this seminar shared that he was afraid of violent dreams that haunted him constantly. But after hearing Pastor Colton’s Session, he stated that the fear had left him.
Another pastor shared that he was going through personal conflicts at that time. He shared that he had learnt much after attending this seminar and that he now knows how to tackle these problems.
“We are grateful to God for the ministry God is doing in the Uva province and we also thank NCEASL for supporting and being apart of us” shared another pastor gratefully. |
