49 pastors and leaders representing 37 local Churches from the Nuwara Eliya Pastors Fellowship and the Uva Pastors Fellowship participated a seminar on Standing Strong Through the Storm held at Welimada YMCA from 15th to 17th September 2009.   The resource persons included Missions staff from NCEASL and LBC.
The objective of the course was to illustrate the reality in which we live. The world is not ‘a garden of flowers’ as we may like it to be. It is rather a ‘spiritual battlefield’, filled with the schemes of satan against the children of God. Issues related to the cross, the Church, conflict, resources, training and victory was discussed. Participants were reassured that “faith does not always provide exemptions from suffering, but keeps us from being defeated at the hands of suffering”.

At the end of the seminar several participants shared their testimonies and their ideas about the programme and what they had leant. “The section about family was important for me” said one participant. “I was challenged to pray as a family and to have bible studies with my family” he continued. Another participant had this to say, “My spirit was broken by others and I was amidst much suffering. The teachings showed me that we need to go through suffering in order that I become strong & is able to take a stand.  I desire to make a change in this land. I was reassured and motivated through this seminar.”
