Sri Lanka: NCEASL - Information release - May 2009

On the morning of 28th May 2009 (Thursday), navy personnel and army commandos accompanied by a Police officer visited the NCEASL office in Colombo. The General Secretary/CEO and some senior staff were interrogated and official documents and the premises were searched. After nearly 3 hours, the investigation concluded and they left, finding that everything was in order.    

NCEASL is aware that there is an e-mail being circulated on the above incident claiming reasons for the investigation. We wish to inform that the above mentioned email did not originate from anyone connected to NCEASL and the reasons put forward by the writer of the e-mail are inaccurate and false.    

We share this information with you to clear any misconceptions created.
