“Bringing Words to Life”
Training Seminar and Workshop for Christian Writers and Translators

28th – 30th of April 2009

A special seminar aimed at equipping Christian writers and translators was held at the Berjaya Mount Royal Beach Hotel in Mount Lavinia from the 28th – 30th of April, 2009. This was organized by NCEASL in partnership with Media Associates International (MAI). 30 Participants representing different Churches and Christian organizations attended this 3 day programme. The writer’s workshop was conducted by George Koshy and Dr. Babu Verghese, a pair of renowned trainers from India and the translator’s workshop was conducted by Jophen Baui, from the Philippines.

One of the main highlights of this programme was the laying of the foundation towards forming a “Sri Lankan Christian Writers Forum”. This initiative was put across to the participants by the trainers, on the last day of the seminar, to which the unanimous response was immediate and favourable. Mr. Kithsiri Rubasinghe was chosen as the convener of this forum. The first official meeting of this forum is scheduled to be conducted on the 29th of June 2009 from 5.30pm – 7.30pm at the NCEASL National Office.
