Pavement Project Underway in the Regions

Pavement Project (PP) with its Big Green Bag has been taking root in Sri Lanka slowly and steadily. During the last quarter of 2007, with the visit of James Bartle, Regional Director Lifewords Asia, and Grace Lim, PP Facilitator Asia , it took a steady direction. The partnership of NCEASL with Lifewords in implementing the PP in Sri Lanka became stronger and a full-time staff was employed by NCEASL as a PP Coordinator. 

Initial visits with Grace Lim were made to the PP Workers in Colombo , Kandy , and Kurunegala. Since October 2007, administration of PP Resources, reclaiming of Green Bags from past trainees who are non-active, swapping of PP resources in English with Sinhala material for Sinhalese PP workers trained in 2002 & 2005, supporting and encouraging PP workers through prayer, phone calls & visits, replenishing of Green Bags with pocket cards, coloring-in sheets, paper-play sheets etc (these are given to children during counseling sessions), were set as priorities. Reports were collected from the PP workers, compiled and reported to the Program Manager of NCEASL, PP Facilitator Asia , and Lifewords Director Asia.

A total of 30 children, 12 males & 18 females (including an adult) have been counseled by these 5 workers in 2007.  

 The Year 2008 holds the same challenges ahead. PP looks forward to train people of Sri Lanka who commit themselves to learn the process & skills of counseling. PP would equip them with the Big Green Bag which is recognized as an effective tool for reframing memories and bringing healing and hope to children who are traumatized. The thrust for PP in Sri Lanka is the question raised in Nehemiah 4:2, "Will they revive the stones from the heaps of rubbish - stones that are burned?"
